RM Honey Hive, RM Ursula, and KA’s® Boho Rose - one stops you at the gate, one shimmers, and one won’t quit blooming
This week, the walk took us through both gardens — RM Heaven garden and KA’s® Heaven garden — and each one had something waiting that stopped us before we even got close. One color that catches you at the gate. One that doesn’t reveal itself until you’re standing right in front of it. And one that isn’t showy at all, but just won’t stop blooming. Here’s what we found.
RM Honey Hive Dahlia
A 2026 introduction from River Merle Farm, bred by Hailey. RM Honey Hive doesn't quite look like anything else in the garden — its warm honey coloring and unusual, inward-curving petals give the blooms a distinctive, almost sculptural quality. Sometimes you need to see a dahlia from a few different angles before you really understand what makes it special.

RM Ursula Dahlia
A River Merle introduction that grabs your attention the moment you enter the garden. Ursula's coloring is the story — a rich, saturated magenta that catches your eye from a distance, and the closer you get, the more it shimmers. Dark stems and dark foliage frame the blooms and make that color read even more intensely.

KA's® Boho Rose Dahlia
A 2026 introduction from Kristine Albrecht. This little 3-inch mini ball is a beautiful dusty rose color, but what really caught our attention in the garden is just how much it produces — KA’s® Boho Rose has been an incredible bloomer for us this season, a true little workhorse. Ball-form dahlias are especially useful in floral design, and Kristine has been intentionally breeding toward varieties that combine beautiful colors and forms with characteristics that work well for florists. KA’s® Boho Rose doesn't demand attention the way some dahlias do. It just keeps making beautiful flowers.
